María Dolores Águila is a Chicana poet and author from San Diego. Deeply inspired by Chicane history and art, she seeks to write empowering and inclusive stories about everything she learns. Her middle grades novel-in-verse, A Sea of Lemon Trees, was named a Newbery Honor Book and a Pura Belpré Award Honor Book, and the winner of the Charlotte Huck Award® for Outstanding Fiction for Children, the Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction, the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award, and other accolades.
