Tomi Adeyemi, author of the groundbreaking, instant #1 New York Times bestselling Legacy of Orïsha series, is coming to the 2026 NCTE Annual Convention!
Her new book, The Siren, “a dark, propulsive speculative thriller,” hits bookstores in September. NCTE is thrilled to host Adeyemi at #NCTE26, where she will be in conversation about her new novel and her work as a YA author. A book signing will follow.
In The Siren, Emery, a freshman at Dartmouth, meets an intoxicating girl named Roux, her disarming stepbrother named Eli, and the mystical band of girls Roux calls “The Sirens,” according to the book’s website. Before the girls became Sirens, they were outcasts, yet under Roux, their wildest dreams come true. When Roux offers Emery the chance to join them, Emery will do whatever it takes to make it in. Even if it costs Emery her life.
When writing The Siren, Adeyemi “was intentional about each girl assembled in the Sirens, what they represent, and their trial to test freshmen who are trying to become a Siren,” she told Publishers Weekly in April. “They’re all very on-theme for an aspect of these different archetypal energies that are inside all of us, and which I find to be incredibly fascinating to tap into, because you can start to understand your natural strengths and inclinations.”
Adeyemi is also looking forward to reconnecting with fans as she tours her new title. “I’m so excited for my fans who have followed me to this point to meet me as I am now,” she told PW. “I was 23 when I wrote Children of Blood and Bone, and I’ll be 33 when this book comes out. I’m feeling this deep sense of pride.”
